Men's Basketball Gets "In The Game" With 88-75 Win Over EA Sports

OMAHA, Neb. -- Five players scored in double-figures as Creighton men's basketball posted an 88-75 exhibition win over EA Sports on Thursday night.
Casey Harriman, P'Allen Stinnett and Chad Millard all scored 11 points off the bench to lead CU, while Nick Bahe and Kenny Lawson Jr. each had 10 points for the victors. EA Sports was led by 13 points from former Gonzaga center Cory Violette.
The Bluejays scored 50 of their 88 points off the bench, as 13 of 14 players in uniform scored and 11 of them grabbed at least one rebound.
Creighton fell behind 5-2 early before a 10-0 run gave the Jays the lead for good. The burst included three-point buckets from Stinnett and Harriman. Creighton's lead reached double-figures at 18-7 on a jumper from Bahe and reached as high as 16 twice in the first half. CU took a 43-30 lead into intermission, led by 10 points and three assists from Bahe.
Creighton led most of the second half by 20 points or more, with the lead reaching as high as 26 at 64-38 with 12:20 to play. EA Sports never got within 14 (73-59) after that.
The Bluejays shot 51.5 percent from the field (34-66) and 44 percent from three-point range (11-25). Stinnett led the team with five assists, while Dane Watts grabbed a team-high six rebounds.
EA Sports was paced on the glass by seven rebounds from Elvin Mims, while four different players dished three assists. Former Creighton standout Nick Porter had six points, five rebounds and three assists in 26 minutes. He received a standing ovation when the starting line-ups were announced. EA Sports had been 1-0 in exhibition play this fall, with an 86-81 win at perennial power Utah State on Wednesday night.

NOTES: Creighton improved to 6-3 in the last nine years against EA Sports ...The paid crowd of 13,543 was the most in school history for an exhibition game ...Creighton is now 23-3 in exhibition games under Dana Altman, including six straight wins ...Kenny Lawson Jr. become the first freshman (true or redshirt) to start Creighton's first exhibition game since Nov. 14, 1988. That's when Latrell Wrightsell had eight points, four rebounds and three assists in 31 minutes of a 75-66 win over Turkey.
