
Men's Tennis Falls to Drake, 6-1

DES MOINES, IOWA - Creighton's eight-match win streak was halted Thursday, as the Drake Bulldogs (11-6, 1-0 MVC) topped the Bluejay Men's Tennis team (8-3, 0-1 MVC) 6-1, Thursday evening at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center.
Drake grabbed the momentum early, as they wrapped up the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. Jonathan Hadash and Guilherme Marsiglia defeated Connor Mace and Kyle Obermeier, 8-4, before Cesar Bracho and Jean Erasmus clinched with an 8-4 win over Byan Lube and Ryan Norman.
Billy Paluch and J.T. Christian did pull out one singles win, as they topped James McKie and Mauricio Ballivian 8-6 at No. 1.
Christian followed his doubles win with the only Creighton point, topping Marsiglia 5-7, 7-6 (5), 12-10 at No. 2 singles.
From there it was all Bulldogs, as they took the other five singles points. Paluch couldn't pair his doubles win with a singles, as Ballivian got a measure of revenge with a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 1.
Drake took the remaining matches in straight sets, as McKie topped Gabe Nagy at No. 3, 6-1, 6-2. Jean Erasmus topped Obermeier, 6-3, 6-2 at No. 4, Bracho nabbed James McAvoy 6-4, 6-0 at No. 5, and Hadash wrapped up the victory with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Sean Mathison.
Creighton returns to action on Saturday, with a pair of matches against Wichita State and Nebraska-Wesleyan. First serve is set for 11:00 a.m. for the Wichita dual.
