Women's Hoops Dominant in Lone Star Showcase Opener, Down East Carolina 91-66

Austin, Texas - Led by a combined 43 points from freshman Audrey Faber (25) and senior Marissa Janning (18), the Creighton women's basketball team opened the Lone Star Showcase with a dominant 91-66 win over East Carolina on Thursday, Nov. 26.
The win lifted Creighton to 3-1 on the season, while East Carolina dropped to 5-1.
The opening two minutes of the game set the tone for the night as Creighton bolted out to an 8-0 lead on treys from Janning and Faber surrounding a floating jumper from sophomore Sydney Lamberty. East Carolina rallied to back within one possession on three separate occasions, the final one at 14-11 (2:48), but Faber collected the final six points to push the Bluejays' edge to 20-11 at the break.
Faber continued to dominate in the opening moments of quarter number two, scoring back-to-back buckets to give Creighton a 24-11 lead at the 9:19 mark. Faber went on to score 15 points in the first half, going 6-for-6 from the field in her first start as a Bluejay.
Up 45-31 at the half, Creighton pushed its lead to 24 (67-43) as the Bluejays shot a blistering 66.7% from the field in the second half.
Joining Faber and Janning in double figures were sophomores Lamberty and Jade Owens.
East Carolina got 20 points from Jada Payne, while I'Tiana Taylor finished with 15 points.
Creighton continues play in the three-day Thanksgiving Tournament on Friday, Nov. 27 as the Bluejays battle #19 Northwestern at 7:30 pm.
