Playing its fourth game in Omaha over five days, South Dakota State enters Tuesday's contest after being swept over the weekend by the Omaha Mavericks.
The final game of the series may sting the most for South Dakota State as Omaha pounded the Jackrabbits, 14-7.
South Dakota State has had success at the plate in the early portion of the season, hitting .280 as a team. Four Jackrabbits boast an
average over .300, led by Zach Holt's .462 mark.
One thing to note about the Jackrabbit bats, however, is that Zach Coppola is the only consistent starter over .300 at .361.
On the mound the Jackrabbits ahave struggled, allowing 86 runs (68 earned) in 132.2 innings for a 4.61 ERA.
Scouting the Bluejays (2015: 9-7)
Creighton saw a few welcome signs in a six game week as the Bluejays went 4-2 against Kansas State and Utah Valley. During the week junior Reagan Fowler went 12-for-24 raising his average over 90 points to .349. In addition, sophomore Nicky Lopez was 3-for-5 in the final game against the Wolverine.
On the mound the bullpen began to sort itself out as Ethan DeCaster and David Gerber have taken hold of the late inning duties for Creighton.
The Road So Far
After dropping four straight to open the month of March, Creighton has rebounded with wins in four of the last five contests.
Present
The Bluejays face South Dakota State in a single game on Tuesday, then head to New York for a three-game series with Stony Brook this weekend.
Looking Ahead
The schedule continues to be packed next week as Creighton welcomes Air Force for two midweek contests (March 24-25), then welcomes Stetson for three over the following weekend.
Runs for Everyone
Sunday's game with Utah Valley saw each member of the Bluejays lineup touched home plate in Creighton's 11-3 win over the Wolverines.
It was the first time Creighton did that at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha. The last time a Creighton team accomplished that was on March 9, 2012 in Stockton, Calif (W, 11-9 at Pacific). The last time it happened in a home game was on April 12, 2009 in a 14-1 win over Northern Iowa in the CU Sports Complex.
Approaching 100 in TD Ameritrade Park Omaha
Creighton Baseball is approaching its 100th game in TD Ameritrade Park Omaha (TDAPO) as the win over Utah Valley was the Bluejays 93rd game at TDAPO.
