Tennis Falls to Xavier, Men 5-2; Women 6-1

Milwaukee, Wis. -- Each of the Bluejay tennis teams fell to Xavier on Saturday, April 2. The women's team suffered a 6-1 loss, while the men's team fell 5-2.
Women's Box Score
The Creighton women's tennis team dropped to 7-8 with the loss, while Xavier's women's squad moved to 12-4.
The highlight of the match for the Bluejays came in the fourth singles position as freshman Michaela Henne collected a victory in the final match of the contest. Henne bested Alex Brinker, 7-5, 3-6, 1-0 (10-8).
The Bluejays return to action on Saturday, April 9 as Creighton hosts UMKC at 1:00 pm.
Men's Box Score
In the men's match the Bluejays loss brought Creighton's record to 6-7 in 2016, while Xavier moved to 8-5.
Creighton got off to a strong start as the Bluejays captured the double point with victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles slots. The tandem of Harrison Lang and August Nysted delivered a 6-3 win in the first doubles match over Zach Mueck and Jeremy Schneider. Moments later Alex Koca and Brooks Kendall claimed the first point of the match with a 7-5 win overArthur Stefani and Jeremy Schneider.
Singles play, however, went primarily the way of the Musketeers. The Bluejays claimed the sixth spot in singles action as Jake Glazer earned a 6-2, 6-2 win over Gabe Araujo. The match was far closer than the final score may show as Bluejay players dropped tiebreakers in both the second and third singles positions that could have easily changed the match.
The Bluejays return to action on Friday, April 8 as Creighton battles Iowa in Iowa City at 11 am.
