Creighton win doubles point, pick up one singles victory
ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Creighton men's tennis team fell 5-2 to Coastal Carolina on Tuesday afternoon at the Lake Cane Tennis Center in Orlando, Fla.
The Bluejays are now 4-7, and the Chanticleers improved to 5-6.
Creighton clinched the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and 3. Armando Gandini and Aaron Chalstrom won 6-4 at No. 3 before Harrison Lang and Brooks Kendall sealed the point with a 7-5 win at the No. 1 slot.
Coastal Carolina won at each of the top five singles positions, including two three-set victories.
Lang and Alex Koca each played three-set matches before falling in the deciding set.
At No. 2 singles, Lang dropped a 6-3 decision in the opening set, but battled back for a 6-4 win in the second. In the third frame, Coastal Carolina's Luiz Faria won in convincing fashion, 6-1.
Koca lost 6-3 in the first set at No. 3. The junior evened the match with a 6-3 win in the second, but fell 6-4 in the final set.
Chalstom picked up Creighton's lone singles victory with a three-set win at the No. 6 position. The senior fell 6-7 in the opening frame, but responded with a 6-4 win in the second and a 10-6 decision in a 10-point tiebreaker set.

"We played strong doubles, and that has been a bright spot on our season so far," head coach Tom Lilly said. "We need to be able to compete better when things aren't going our way. We definitely played hard and lost to a good team, but we have to handle situations better.
"Tomorrow we will need to start competing better as Butler is a very strong team and playing great tennis right now."
Creighton is back in action on Wednesday morning against conference foe Butler at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.
