Harrison Lang and Brooks Kendall pick up singles victories for the Bluejays
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Creighton men's tennis team fell 5-2 to UMKC at the Plaza Tennis Center in Kansas City, Mo. on Tuesday.
The Bluejays are now 8-10 overall with one dual remaining before the BIG EAST Championships (April 28-30) in Cayce, S.C.
The Kangaroos swept doubles action to claim the doubles point. UMKC earned a 6-0 win at the top position, and two-game margin victories at the No. 2 (7-5) and No. 3 (6-4) slots.
Creighton's Harrison Lang and Brooks Kendall each picked up their 11th singles victory of the season on Tuesday. Lang claimed a three-set victory at No. 2 (7-6, 4-6, 6-3), while Kendall won it straight-sets at No. 3.
UMKC sealed the overall match with straight-sets victories at the No. 1 and No. 4 slots.
Jake Glazer opened the No. 6 singles match with a 7-6 opening-frame win before falling 6-3, 6-3 during the final two sets to the Roos' No. 6 individual.
"Credit UMKC for playing hard at all positions and winning some big points in singles," head coach Tom Lilly said. "We weren't able to hold serve enough in doubles, and UMKC played well.
"Harrison and Brooks each picked up great wins in singles, responding after a rough doubles match."
Creighton concludes its regular season with a home match against Hastings College on Sunday, April 23 at 12:30 p.m.
