Men's Tennis Drops Season Opener at Iowa, 5-2

The loss moved the Bluejays to 0-1 on the season, while Iowa climbed to 2-1.
The highlight of the match for Creighton came from the top singles match as sophomore Nick Campbell upset Iowa's 60th ranked top singles player Kareem Allaf. Campbell took the opening set 6-4, this delivered a dominant performance in the tiebreaker winning 10-4.
The Bluejays other win in the match came at No. 5 singles as Bluejay senior Daniel Lopez-Rey bested Iowa's Matt Clegg, 3-6, 7-5, 10-1.
"We had opportunities in doubles to take that point and then chances in a few other single," head coach Tom Lilly said. "This was definitely a match we could have earned, but Iowa was just too strong at times and were the better team when they needed to be."
Creighton returns to the court on Wednesday, Jan. 29th as the Bluejays host Midland with the match set to begin at 12:45 pm at the Hanscom tennis courts.
