At the No. 2 singles slot, Stratton Brown grabbed the first set 6-3 but dropped the final two sets 6-3, 6-3 to Brett Winters as Xavier claimed the match with their fourth point of the match.
With match already decided, Ethan Neil battled in a three-set loss to Caden Krammerer. Krammerer captured a 6-3 win in the first set, but Neil rallied for a 6-4 victory in the second frame. Krammerer outlasted Neil in the third set, 7-5, giving Xavier the 5-2 win over the Bluejays.
"We lost a tough one today in the wind and heat," said head coach Tom Lilly. "After a great start in doubles we just were not able to keep a high level of tennis going and succumbed to better play and the elements a bit too much. Credit Xavier for playing strong throughout the entire three hours.
