Bluejays are back in action next Friday against Midland
CHICAGO, Ill. – The Creighton men's tennis team concluded its BIG EAST road trip with a 6-1 setback against DePaul on Saturday night at the XS Tennis Village.
The Bluejays fell to 6-8 on the year, while the Blue Demons improved to 7-11 overall.
DePaul started the match by earning a pair of 6-3 victories at the top two doubles positions to claim the first point of the night.
The host Blue Demons added to their lead with a 6-2, 6-1 straight-sets win at the No. 3 singles spot.
Sophomore Shin Inoue picked up Creighton's lone win of the match with a 6-2, 6-3 straight-sets victory at the No. 4 singles spot.
DePaul closed the match with straight-set wins at the No. 1, No. 2 and No.3 slots, as well as a three-set victory at the No. 5 singles position to claim the 6-1 triumph.
"We competed a bit better today but credit to DePaul for being stronger on a few key points in the doubles," said head coach Tom Lilly. "We had a few chances on some courts in the singles but just came up short. Hopefully we improved this weekend despite the losses and can prepare for our final few matches at home and then conference."
The Bluejays return to the courts next Friday when they play host to Midland at the Koch Family Tennis Center. First serve is schedule for 1 p.m.
