Women's Golf Places Fourth at UTRGV Invitational

Katie Allen places eighth to lead Creighton
MCALLEN, TEXAS -- Katie Allen, Eleanor Hudepohl and Katherine Lemke all finished in the top-15 to help the Creighton women's golf team to a fourth-place showing at the UTRGV Invitational on Tuesday, March 7 in McAllen, Texas.
Allen placed eighth, Hudepohl 12th and Lemke tied for 14th in CU's third of six events of the spring.
A senior from Phoenix, Ariz., Allen matched the best round of her collegiate career when she opened the tournament with a 70. She followed that up with loops of 75 and 72 for the 217 total. Allen now owns 13 career top-10 finishes, most of any Bluejay in the last 20 years.
After carding scores of 76 and 75 on Monday, Hudepohl matched par with a final round 71 on Tuesday. Her 222 total earned her a 12th-place showing. The Cincinnati native has finished in the top-12 in each of her last five tournaments.
Lemke followed up consecutive 74s with a closing 76 to tie for 14th place. It was also her fifth consecutive top-15 finish.
Freshmen Mia Gaboriau (77-79-74=230) tied for 28th and Annika Yturralde (78-81-76=235) shared 43rd place to round out the CU line-up.
In addition, Gabby Tremblay competed as an individual who didn't factor into CU's team standings. She had circuits of 77, 78 and 81 for a 236 total, good for a tie for 46th place.
Houston Christian (282-285-296) won the 14-team event with an 863 total, 14 shots better than host UTRGV (290-289-298). Creighton's (297-303-293) final-round 293 was its second-best team score of the season and the best by any team in the field on Tuesday. Houston Christian's Elise Parel (69-68-73=210) won a playoff over UTRGV's Julie Lucio (71-70-69=210) after both women tied for first among the 81-person field.
The event was played at McAllen Country Club, which measured 5,951 yards on its par 71 layout.
Creighton returns to the course on March 18-19 at the Red Rocks Invitational in Sedona, Ariz.
