LIBERTYVILLE, Ill. -- Freshman Julia Karmazin tied for 28th place to lead the Creighton women's golf team to a 13th place finish at the Loyola Parkinson Family Invitational on Tuesday. The tournament was Creighton's final competition of the fall.
An Omaha native, Karmazin had her third consecutive top-30 finish with rounds of 76, 77 and 77 for a 230 aggregate.
Creighton's second-best performer was sophomore Abby Aeschleman (86-72-77=235), who tied for 51st in the event but played as an individual and did not count towards CU's team score. Her even-par 72 in Monday's second round was the best of her collegiate career by four shots and matched CU's top score of the fall.
Fellow sophomore Annie Dawson (82-79-78=239) tied for 57th place, improving each round, and junior Morgan Becker tied for 65th place with loops of 82, 75 and 85 for a 242 total over 54 holes.
Tying for 67th place was sophomore Karsen Morrison (79-81-83=243), while classmate Katharine Marshall (85-81-88=254) tied for 78th place in the field.
Creighton (319-312-323=954) took 13th in the team standings of the event. Illinois State (292-294-292=878) won the tournament by 13 shots over Butler (296-300-295=891). Omaha's Katie Ruge (75-70-70=215) finished 1-under for the tournament to post a one-shot victory over Butler's Treva Dodd (73-74-69=216). Eighty golfers and 13 teams competed on the course of The Merit Club, a Par 72 layout that measured 6,041 yards.
