Sokol Arena record 23rd career double-double as No. 12 Creighton Volleyball swept Missouri on Saturday at the Bluejay Invitational. The 25-21, 25-23 25-18 victory improves Creighton to 2-0 and sets up a title match on Sunday against Drake at 2:30 p.m.
Norah Sis led CU with 13 kills on .375 hitting while Martin owned 12 kills on .400 hitting. Elise Goetzinger contributed 10 kills on .438 hitting, adding five digs and a pair of blocks. Sis had six kills and Wait dished 15 assists to lead the Jays to .435 hitting.
The second set featured 14 ties and seven lead changes as the Jays had to rally late to take command of the match. The Tigers survived two set point chances before a four hit violation on the Tigers gave CU the 25-23 victory. Martin and Goetzinger each had five kills and Jaya Johnson had a hand in three blocks for CU. Mizzou's Vernon had seven kills and Iliff added six more to pace the Tiger offense.
Creighton never trailed in the third set, using a 6-0 run on Wait's serve to take a 12-4 advantage. The Tigers never got any closer than five points the rest of the way. A service error by Mizzou gave CU it's 12th straight home sweep, and 14th straight home win overall to tie a program record. Sis had five kills in the clincher as CU hit .357 and held MU to .194 hitting.
