Martin honored for sixth time, Reinhardt for seventh time.
OMAHA, Neb. -- A 2-0 week helped a pair of Creighton Volleyball seniors earn recognition from the BIG EAST Conference on Monday, as Ava Martin and Kiara Reinhardt were named Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively.
Martin averaged 5.93 points, 4.86 kills, 2.43 digs, 0.86 aces and 0.43 blocks per set while hitting .435 as Creighton defeated both Marquette (3-0) and DePaul (3-1) on the road. The points and kills per set led all BIG EAST players while her aces per set were third-best and hitting percentage was seventh-most. The Preseason BIG EAST Player of the Year lived up to the hype in Thursday's 3-0 win at Marquette, finishing with 20 kills, seven digs and two blocks while hitting .514. She had nine kills in 11 swings during CU's 25-19 second set win, then had kills on five of CU's final six points in the third set to secure the sweep. Martin closed her week with 14 kills and 10 digs for her first double-double of the year while adding a season-best six service aces at DePaul. Martin served a 9-0 run to start the match and help set the tone on an afternoon where CU tied a program record with 15 aces.
This is the sixth time in Martin's career she's been named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, joining a pair of honors in both 2023 (Aug. 28 & Sept. 18) and 2024 (Nov. 4 & Nov. 25), as well as Sept. 22, 2025 earlier this fall. The Overland Park, Kan., native's six career BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week citations is tied for second-most in CU history witih Jaela Zimmerman and trails only Norah Sis' nine from 2021-24.
Kiara Reinhardt averaged 2.86 kills, 1.29 blocks and 1.00 assists per set on league-best .643 hitting as Creighton defeated both Marquette (3-0) and DePaul (3-1) on the road last week. Reinhardt hit .500 and had six kills, four blocks and four assists on Thursday as Creighton became the first BIG EAST foe to sweep Marquette in Milwaukee during the regular-season since 2015. The sixth-year senior from Cedarburg, Wis., then had 14 kills, five blocks and three assists while hitting .722 in 18 swings in a 3-1 win at DePaul.
Reinhardt's second straight recognition gives her seven career BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week accolades. She also earned honors once each in 2021 and 2023, and three times in 2024. In CU history, only two-time Libero of the Year Brittany Witt (with 8) has been recognized more by the BIG EAST as Defensive Player of the Week.
Creighton (11-5, 4-0 BIG EAST) is back on the court on Friday when it visits Georgetown (10-7, 3-1 BIG EAST) at 6 p.m. Central.
