Maeder & Martin Land BIG EAST Weekly Honors

OMAHA, Neb. --Â Creighton Volleyball seniors Annalea Maeder and Ava Martin have earned BIG EAST Setter and Offensive Player of the Week honors, the league announced on Monday.
Maeder averaged a league-leading 10.29 assists to go with 2.71 digs and 0.43 kills per set as Creighton defeated both Villanova (3-1) and Georgetown (3-0). The Ried, Switzerland native had 43 assists and 12 digs in Friday's victory over Villanova, then contributed 29 assists, seven digs and two kills in a sweep over Georgetown as Creighton tied a league-record with its 45th straight regular-season BIG EAST win. Creighton hit .316 for the week, tops in the league and was second with 14.14 kills per set.
This is Maeder's sixth BIG EAST Setter of the Week honor of the season.
This is the sixth overall BIG EAST Setter of the Week recognition for Maeder. She was also honored on Sept. 15, Sept. 29, Oct. 13, Oct. 20 and Oct. 27 before this week's accolade.
Martin averaged a BIG EAST-best 5.14 kills per set and added 2.00 kills, 0.14 blocks and 0.14 aces per set on .313 hitting. The Overland Park, Kan., product had 23 kills and a season-best 14 digs on Friday in a 3-1 win vs. Villanova as she hit .286. She then had 13 kills and hit .370 in a victory over Georgetown that helped her finish her career 40-0 against BIG EAST foes inside D.J. Sokol Arena.
This is Martin's fifth BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week accolade of the season, also doing so on Sept. 22, Oct. 6, Oct. 27 and Nov. 3, and ninth time in her career. Since Creighton joined the BIG EAST 13 seasons ago, only Norah Sis (9 times) has also been recognized nine times as BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week among Bluejays.
Creighton returns to the court on Friday at 6 p.m. Central with a match at St. John's that will air on ESPN+.
