
Mondiri and Gillis Earn All-BIG EAST Honors

OMAHA, Neb. – Creighton Women's Soccer graduate student Ariana Mondiri and senior Tori Gillis each claimed a spot on the All-BIG EAST Teams on Wednesday, Nov. 5 as the league announced its annual award winners. Mondiri was a First Team All-BIG EAST selection, and Gillis brought home Second Team All-BIG EAST accolades.
Earning her second consecutive All-BIG EAST honor, Mondiri became just the sixth Bluejay since joining the BIG EAST in 2013 to earn multiple all-conference recognitions. She is joined by Azumi Manriki (2023-24), Aida Kardovic (2020-22), Skylar Heinrich (2019-20), Taryn Jakubowski (2018-19) and Lauren Sullivan (2014-16) as the only players to earn multiple All-BIG EAST honors.
The Evry, France native leads the Bluejays and ranks tied for seventh in the BIG EAST with 19 points on a team-high eight goals and three assists, having scored at least one point in 10 of the Jays' 18 matches this season. Mondiri has consistently delivered for Creighton this season, converting on two game-winners and five addition game-tying goals. The standout senior heads to the BIG EAST Tournament with 16 career goals and six career assists, having logged more than 2,700 minutes as a Bluejay.
In her first season on the pitch at Creighton, Gillis has made an immediate impact scoring two goals and dishing out an assist on a career-high 30 shots in 1,451 minutes of action this season. The Leesburg, Va. native found the back of the net for the first time in her career, delivering a go-ahead goal at Providence on Oct. 11. Gillis returns to the DMV for the BIG EAST Tournament this week owning two career goals and two career assists in 3,122 total minutes of action at Creighton and LSU.
Georgetown's Maa Lardner repeated as the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year, while Butler's Talia Sommer and Xavier's Samantha Erbach were named CO-Midfielders of the year. Xavier's Natalie Bain was named Defensive Player of the Year for a second straight season, while Georgetown's Cara Martin nabbed Goalkeeper of the Year honor for the second time. Villanova's Avrie Nelsen claimed Freshman of the Year accolades while Georgetown earning Coaching Staff of the Year honors.
Creighton (7-7-4, 4-3-3 BIG EAST) earned the No. 4 seed and will take on top-seeded and 12th ranked Georgetown (14-2-2, 10-0-0 BIG EAST) in the BIG EAST Tournament Presented by JEEP on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. CT.
