Neleigh Gessert Claims BIG EAST Freshman of the Week Honor

New York, N.Y. -- Bluejay Neleigh Gessert earned her first conference accolade, collecting the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week on Monday, December 1. It was also Creighton's first honor of the 2025-26 season. The Omaha native scored a combined 38 points in Creighton's pair of games at the UNLV Turkey Tip-Off Tournament last weekend, including a 25-point performance in Creighton's 86-62 win over Northern Arizona.Â
The Bluejays' next opponent, St. John's, earned the Player of the Week nod as junior guard Brooke Moore averaged 21.7 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in a 3-0 week that included a pair of games at the Cayman Islands Classic.Â

Butler sophomore guard Lily Zeinstra, UConn sophomore forward Sarah Strong, Georgetown graduate student guard Laila Jewett, Marquette junior forward Skylar Forbes and Villanova junior forward Brynn McCurry were named to this week's honor roll.
Creighton and St. John's open BIG EAST play against one another on Thursday, December 4 in Queens at 6:00 p.m.
