South Orange, N.J. -- A back-and-forth battle in the rubber game saw Creighton Baseball seize a lead in the seventh inning, but Seton Hall answered with two runs to topple the Bluejays 7-6 on Sunday, April 13.
The loss dropped Creighton to 20-11 overall and 3-3 in BIG EAST action, while Seton Hall moved to 14-22 overall and 2-4 in conference action.
Seton Hall bounced out to an early 4-0 lead behind a solo home run from Kevin Milewski in the second as well as a two-run single from him in the third. Nick Ferri added a sacrifice fly in the third to make it 4-0.
Creighton responded with three runs in the fifth, pushing across the first run on a sac fly by Nolan Sailors followed by a two-run home run to center.
The game remained 4-3 until Aiden Robbins connected on a solo home run for the Pirates in the bottom of the sixth.
Bluejay Tate Gillen answered with a solo home run to open the top of the seventh. Later in the frame Sailors laced a single up the middle and North connected for his second round tripper to put Creighton up 6-5.
Facing a deadline due to Creighton's pending flight, the bottom of the seventh was the final opportunity, Seton Hall wasted no time with a double and a single to knot the game at 6-6 against Creighton reliever Shane Curtin, then took advantage of a Bluejay error with two down in the frame to take the game and the series.
Curtin took the loss (1-2), allowing two runs on two hits and a walk in one-third of an inning. Seton Hall's Daniel Frontera collected the win (2-2) allowing one run on two hits in one-third of an inning.
Gillen closed the game 3-for-3 with a double and a home run, while North was 2-for-4 with four RBI in the loss.
