Creighton Picked to Finish Second in the BIG EAST Preseason Poll

New York, N.Y. --Â Just two days before the onset of the 2025 season, the BIG EAST Preseason Poll was released by the conference on Tuesday, August 19. Within the poll the Bluejays are slated to finish second in the Midwest Division, claiming a pair of first place votes and a total of 57 points. The defending Midwest champion Akron was picked to defend its title with 10 first place votes and 65 points, while the remainder of the Midwest Division is picked to finish in the following manner. Xavier was picked third with 41 points, Marquette slotted fourth with 34 points, DePaul came in fifth with 26 points, while Butler received 23 points to finish sixth.
The East Division slots with Georgetown to win with 65 points and 10 first place votes. Providence earned a pair of first place votes and 56 total points. St. John's was picked to finish third with 45 points, while Connecticut was picked fourth with 34 points. Taking the final two spots in the East Division are Seton Hall (30 points) and Villanova in sixth with 16 points.
Creighton opens the 2025 season with a pair of matches in Florida this weekend, facing Florida Atlantic on Thursday, August 21 and Florida International on Sunday, August 24.
