OMAHA, Neb. -- Creighton Volleyball's Annalea Maeder has been named BIG EAST Setter of the Week, league officials announced on Monday.
Maeder averaged 11.40 assists, 2.30 digs, 1.20 kills and 0.30 aces per set to help Creighton finish 2-1 at the Bluejay Invitational and land a spot on the All-Tournament Team. She also hit .320, part of a Bluejay attack that hit .314 for the week.
Maeder had a season-high 49 assists and 11 digs in her Bluejay home debut against No. 4 Louisville, her fourth straight double-double.
The Switzerland native then had 35 assists and seven digs against preseason American Conference favorite Rice before closing the weekend with 30 assists, five digs and a season-high six kills on .545 hitting against preseason MVC favorite Northern Iowa.
This is Maeder's first conference award from the BIG EAST, though the Cal transfer was named Atlantic Coast Conference Setter of the Week on Sept. 2, 2024.
Erin Jones from St. John's was named Offensive Player of the Week, Villanova's Campbell McKinnon tabbed Defensive Player of the Week and DePaul's Eva Hurrle recognized as Freshman of the Week. Maeder's Bluejay teammates Ava Martin and Kiara Reinhardt were also named to the five-player BIG EAST Honor Roll.
Up next for No. 18 Creighton (5-4) is a home match at CHI Health Center Omaha against No. 1 Nebraska on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. A capacity crowd of more than 17,000 fans is expected, and fans are advised to arrive early due to construction surrounding the arena.
