Edelman Earns BIG EAST Freshman of the Week, Hudson Garners Honor Roll

New York, N.Y. -- Bluejay freshman Brian Edelman was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week, while Creighton Goalkeeper Matthew Hudson earned a spot on the weekly Honor Roll when the conference awards were announced on Monday, September 22.

Following up a free kick shot that was deflected into the post, Creighton defender Edelman delivered his second goal of the season by blasting a shot in for the decisive tally. Playing along the back line, Edelman played a vital role in keeping Marquette from notching a goal. It was only the second time this season Marquette has been blanked and the first since the opening match of the season.

Hudson posted his fourth clean sheet in the last five matches as the Bluejays handed Marquette its first loss of the season in the BIG EAST opening match. Creighton's goalkeeper faced 10 shots, making a pair of saves. The difference making save came in the 77^th minute as Hudson delivered a diving save to deny the Golden Eagles.

Edelman, Hudson and the rest of the Bluejays return to the pitch on Saturday, September 27 in a BIG EAST road match at DePaul. Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m.

BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Zach Zengue, Georgetown, Sr., M (North Oaks, Minn.)
Zengue posted a hat trick in a 5-0 win over Butler to open the conference season for Georgetown. Zengue opened up the scoring in the fourth minute, before doubling the Blue & Gray's lead in the 21^st minute with a redirection shot. The senior midfielder capped his first collegiate hat trick in the 66^th minute.

BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Agustin Resch, Seton Hall, Sr., D (Arata, Argentina)
After scoring the opening goal in the fourth minute, Resch and the Pirates defense helped keep a clean sheet against Providence in the conference opener. The Pirates allowed 11 shots in the 2-0 win.

BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week
Kyle Durham, Connecticut, R-Fr., GK (Brooklyn, N.Y.)
In the conference opener against No. 10 Akron, Durham was sensational with six saves, including four in the second half. In the 3-1 come from behind victory, Durham acted as a brick wall in the second half, including back-to-back saves in the second half to secure the No. 1 play on SportsCenter Top 10.

BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Balthazar Saunders, Connecticut, Gr., M (Brooklyn, N.Y.)
Saunders was involved in all three goals of UConn's 3-1 win over Akron. He scored the game-winning goal and dished out a pair of assists.

Oliver Stafford, Georgetown, Jr., D (Ketonah, N.Y.)
Stafford tallied his second goal of the season in a 5-0 win over Butler, while also playing all 90 minutes in the Hoyas' third shutout of the season.

Matias Molina, Seton Hall, Sr., GK (Rosario, Argentina)
Molina made five saves in the 2-0 shutout against Providence.
