Softball Set to Host Fourth Annual Hit-A-Thon on Oct. 22

OMAHA, Neb. – Led by fifth year head coach Krista Wood, Creighton softball fans can get its first look at the 2026-27 Bluejays as the Creighton Softball team hosts its third annual Hit-A-Thon fundraiser on Thursday, Oct. 22 at 5:30 p.m.
The Hit-A-Thon is an initiative designed to raise funds for program enhancements that includes equipment upgrades, increased travel budgets and community outreach opportunities. In the Bluejays' three previous Hit-A-Thon's, the softball team raised more than $120,000 and has set a lofty goal of raising $50,000 for the softball program this season.
During this year's event, each player will get pledges from individuals in the community, and the players will have 10 swings to hit the ball as far as possible. The distance of the farthest ball hit is then multiplied by the amount of your pledge. For example, if a ball is hit 250 feet and a donor pledges $1 per foot, then the donation would be $250. Flat donations will be accepted as well.
Coach Wood has her lineup stacked once again with big-time power hitters, including head Men's Basketball coach Alan Huss, who signed a one-day deal that will allow him to swing for the fences.
The general public is invited to come out and watch the Hit-A-Thon on Thursday, Oct. 22 at 5:30 p.m., but just in case you are unable to attend, the event will be streamed live on YouTube with the help of Creighton's Athletic Broadcast team.
If you haven't had the chance to make a pledge and would like to participate, please contact Coach Wood via email at kristawood@creighton.edu and you will be matched with a player. To make a one-time flat donation to the Creighton softball team visit gocreighton.com/2026hitathon. Specify that your gift will be designated to the softball program. Checks can be made payable to Creighton Athletics with Softball Hit-A-Thon in the memo line and mailed to Creighton University PO Box 30282, Omaha, Neb. 68103.
