QUEENS, N.Y. – Despite owning a 17-6 edge in shots and junior Morgan Paley collecting a career-high tying four saves, the Creighton Women's Soccer team battled St. John's to a scoreless draw on Saturday night at Belson Stadium in Queens, N.Y.
Saturday's result moved Creighton to 4-4-3 on the season and 0-1-2 in BIG EAST play with their sixth shutout of the year, while St. John's moved to 3-5-3 overall and 0-1-2 in league action.
The Bluejays controlled possession throughout the first 25 minutes of play, collecting four of their five first half shots in the opening 10 minutes of the contest. Senior Olivia Duray recorded three of those with junior Anna Bragg putting the Jays' lone shot on goal in the first half.
The Johnnies, however, nearly took a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute on a counterattack as Nora Basile lasered a shot towards the upper-90, where Paley made an incredible diving save to keep the match scoreless.
Both teams battled defensively in the midfield throughout the remainder of the first half, sending the match to halftime scoreless. Creighton outshot St. John's, 5-2, in the opening period, while the Red Storm owned a 1-0 edge in corners created.

Fielding passes from Taylor Yablonski in the open field, Bragg and Hyde both turned and rocketed shots at the near posts but were denied by diving saves from Red Storm goalkeeper Kayla Bower on both scoring chances.
With time running out, the Bluejays turned to Paley to make two saves in the final minute, including one as time expired, to preserve Creighton's sixth shutout of the season and earn a point on the road.
