
Men’s Tennis Suffers 4-0 Setback at Notre Dame

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Playing its third match in three days, the Creighton men's tennis team dropped a 4-0 decision to Notre Dame on Saturday night at the Eck Tennis Center in South Bend, Ind.
The Bluejays loss drops the Bluejays to 6-4 on the year, while the Fighting Irish improved to 8-1 with their fourth consecutive victory.
Notre Dame wasted no time jumping out to an early lead, clinching the doubles point with wins at the top two doubles positions. The No. 16 nationally-ranked doubles team of Peter Nad and Luis Llorens rolled to a 6-1 victory at the top spot, while Noad Becker and Nicholas Patrick claimed a 6-2 victory on the No. 2 doubles court to give the Irish a 1-0 edge.
ND carried their momentum into singles play, earning straight set wins on the No. 1, No. 5 and No. 6 singles courts to clinch the overall dual.
No. 16 ranked Sebastian Dominko topped senior Kirtan Patel, 6-2, 6-1 at the top singles position, before Nolan Balthazor claimed a 6-2, 6-2 straight sets win over Lucas Mommessin at the No. 6 singles spot. Evan Lee then defeated Jack McMahon at the No. 5 singles position to clinch the overall dual for the Fighting Irish.
Creighton will have to regroup quickly as they take on Arkansas in Lincoln at 5 p.m. on Sunday.
