Dear Bluejays,
A month ago, we were talking about the anticipation of spring practices beginning, schedules coming together, and baseball and softball right around the corner. Now? We're officially in it. Every one of our spring sports is up and running, competing, and developing as a unit.
I may be tempting fate by saying this out loud, but it certainly feels like winter is behind us and spring has taken over — not just on the calendar, but on our fields, courts, and tracks.
Below you'll find a snapshot of where our teams stand, and some highlights worth celebrating from the early part of the season.
Men's and Women's Tennis
The men's team has faced one of the toughest schedules in the BIG EAST, competing against nationally recognized programs. After challenging matchups, they've built momentum with back-to-back wins over Saint Louis and Northwest Missouri State.
The women are off to an impressive 9–3 start, including a seven-match winning streak. Freshmen Mithila Dixit and Teresa Tran earned BIG EAST Doubles Team of the Week honors after strong performances against Western Illinois and Omaha.
Men's and Women's Golf
Grant Feldman and Gavin Gerch each recorded top-10 finishes to lead the men to a third-place result at The Savannah Intercollegiate — their first tournament of the spring.
On the women's side, Julia Karmazin placed 11th at the Texas State Invitational, guiding the team to a fifth-place finish. They followed with a 910 aggregate at the Rio Verde Collegiate in Rio Verde, Arizona — the program's third-best 54-hole score of the 2025–26 season.
Women's Rowing
We are still over a week from the women's rowing team's first race of the spring as they travel to Edmond, Okla, for a race against Central Oklahoma. Meanwhile, this past weekend, more than 70 participants supported the program at the 11th Annual 2K Challenge, raising funds for equipment and operational enhancements.
Baseball and Softball
While both teams are working through early-season challenges and key injuries, there have been notable milestones. Head softball coach Krista Wood earned her 600th career victory in a win over South Dakota on Feb. 20. Head baseball coach Mark Kingston secured his first win at Creighton with an 11–3 victory over Saint Mary's on Feb. 13.
We're also excited to officially open the new Creighton Softball Stadium on Friday, March 13 at 5 p.m. against Providence.
