Men’s Tennis Falls at Butler, 5-2

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Creighton men's tennis team fell to Butler, 5-2, on Easter Sunday at the Indianapolis Racquet Club in Indianapolis, Ind.
The loss dropped the Bluejays to 11-12 on the year and to 2-3 in BIG EAST play, while the Bulldogs improved to 8-13 overall and 2-3 in league action.
Creighton started the contest strong, earning the doubles point with wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles positions. Senior Zachary Kuo and freshman Mathis Dahler combined for a 6-2 win at the No. 3 slot, before seniors Yuma Daijima and Kirtan Patel teamed up for 6-4 triumph on the No. 2 doubles court to clinch the first point of the match.
Butler, however, responded in single play, clinching the overall dual with straight set wins at five of the six singles positions.
Patel claimed the Bluejays' lone singles win of the day, earning the 99th win of his career with a 6-2, 6-4 straight sets victory at the No. 2 singles position.
Creighton returns to action on Friday, April 10 at 4 p.m. when they visit Milwaukee for another BIG EAST matchup at Marquette.
