OMAHA, Neb. – The first tally of the season from Anna Bragg was all the defense needed as the Creighton women's soccer team claimed the battle for the city, posting a 1-0 win over Omaha on Wednesday night at Caniglia Field.

Creighton improved to 4-3-1 on the year, claiming its ninth consecutive win over the Omaha and the Bluejays 17^th straight win over Summit League opponents. The Mavericks, meanwhile, dropped to 1-4-3 with the loss.

Neither squad pushed across a goal in the opening frame, as the back-and-forth battle saw the Jays put three of their four shots on frame. Creighton nearly put the Jays on the scoreboard in the 34^th minute as Clara Kulick's goal was waved out due to the Jays being offside.

Coming out of the break with urgency, Creighton quickly pushed forward and took a 1-0 lead in the 47^th minute off a set piece. Set in place by a Mavricks foul along the sideline, sophomore Olivia Sides delivered aa perfectly placed cross off into the six-yard box, where Anna Bragg headed home her first goal of the season.

Down a goal in the final 15 minutes, Omaha pressed up and nearly put the equalizer into the back of the net in the 80^th minute, but the goal was call off as the Mavericks were offsides.

Despite Creighton earning the shutout victory, Omaha finished the match with an 8-6 edge in shots, while owning a 5-1 edge in corner kicks. Junior transfer Morgan Paley earned the victory collecting the Mavericks only two shots on frame.

The Bluejays will have a 10-day break before opening BIG EAST play against Providence inside Morrison Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 26 at 12 p.m
