SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. -- No. 25 Creighton Volleyball opened conference play with a 3-0 sweep at Seton Hall, extending its BIG EAST record with its 48th straight regular-season win in league action.

Scores of the match in CU's favor were 25-19, 25-18, 25-23. Creighton (6-7, 1-0 BIG EAST) has now won 65 straight sets against Seton Hall (8-6, 0-2 BIG EAST), a streak that started 11 years ago today, after finishing off its first 3-0 sweep of the season.

Seton Hall scored the first five points of the match to force an early timeout from Brian Rosen, but the Bluejays quickly recovered to tie the score at 8-all and take their first lead at 11-10. A 3-0 spurt helped the Jays to a 17-14 lead and Creighton would pull away for the 25-19 victory in the opener on the first career ace by Peyton Carlson on set point. Trinity Shadd-Ceres had five kills in the first frame and Katie Dalton dished assists on 11 of CU's 15 kills.

Creighton scored the first five points of the second set on Sydney Breissinger's serve -- which included three aces -- and never trailed to take a 2-0 lead into intermission. The Jays hit .625 in the second set with 17 kills on 24 swings. Ayden Ames had six kills in six swings and was one of six Bluejays with at least one putaway.

CU had to work from behind in the third set, falling behind 15-9 before three straight Bluejay points halved the deficit. The visitors still trailed 18-13 before Carlson authored a run from the service line that included a pair of aces to draw the Jays even. Seton Hall countered with three points in a row to regain a 21-18 edge, but Ames had consecutive kills to narrow the gap, then Rosen won a challenge to knot the score at 21-all. Wurtz put down a kill to tie the score at 22, the Jays took the lead on a block from Jaya Johnson and Wurtz and closed out the match on a kill by Johnson that withstood a Seton Hall challenge.

The six-point hole was the largest in any Creighton set victory all fall and matched the largest in a set victory under Rosen.

Creighton hit a season-high .433 in the match, with outside hitters Ames (.500) and Shadd-Ceres (.440) both recording 13 kills and hitting over .400 to post season-highs. Saige Damrow paced the defense with 11 digs, Dalton dished 34 assists and Carlson served up the first three aces of her career. The Bluejays had 47 kills, 34 digs, five blocks and seven aces.

Seton Hall hit .275 and recorded 37 kills, 30 digs, three aces and a block. Alondra Villanueva had 14 kills and hit .333 to lead the Pirate attack.

Creighton is back in action on Saturday at 6 p.m. Central with a trip to St. John's (11-3, 1-0 BIG EAST). The webcast for the match has moved from YouTube to ESPN+.
