Mike Nesbitt joined Creighton’s basketball staff in 2025 as an assistant coach following two record-breaking seasons at High Point University under head coach Alan Huss.
Nesbitt was Huss’ first hire at HPU, and together they engineered a historic turnaround that culminated in back-to-back outright Big South regular-season titles and the program’s first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 2025.
During his time at High Point, the Panthers went 56–15 overall, 27–5 in Big South play and posted a 31–3 record at home. The 2024–25 season saw HPU reach new heights with a 29–6 record, tying the Big South single-season wins record.
Nesbitt played a pivotal role in High Point’s recruiting, player development and defensive strategy, helping the Panthers achieve program records for regular-season wins, non-conference wins and win percentage at the Division I level.
Prior to High Point, Nesbitt served as the head coach at Panola College in 2022–23, leading the team to a record 28 wins and earning Region XIV East Coach of the Year honors. Five players earned all-conference recognition, and several advanced to NCAA Division I programs.
Nesbitt worked at Bradley from 2020-22, where he worked in both player development as well as operations from 2020-22. During his tenure, the Braves achieved their highest NET ranking in over a decade and produced multiple All-MVC selections and scholar-athletes.
Earlier stops include assistant coaching roles at Southern Utah, New Mexico Junior College and Panola College, where Nesbitt made an early mark through skill development, academic oversight and offensive innovation.
Nesbitt began his coaching journey as a graduate assistant at the University of New Mexico.
A native of Evansville, Ind., Nesbitt played three seasons at Missouri S&T before he transferred to New Mexico for his final year of eligibility.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in business management from Missouri S&T and owns an MBA in finance from New Mexico.
He and his fiancée Lexi live in Omaha with their son Beau.
