2025: Redshirt Freshman at Creighton
• NCAA ranks: 5th in aces per set; 7th in aces.
• BIG EAST ranks (all matches): 2nd in aces, 2nd in aces per set.
• BIG EAST ranks (league matches): 1st in aces per set, 2nd in aces.
• Owned 61 aces this season, breaking Creighton’s single-season record set by Molly Moran that had stood since 2000.
• Also set a CU single-season record with 0.60 aces per set.
• Her 37 aces in BIG EAST play were tied for second-most in league history.
• Named BIG EAST’s Freshman of the Week on Nov. 17.
• Serving specialist who is the nation’s only player to stand 6-foot-2 or more or be listed as a middle blocker to average more than 0.51 aces per set.
• Set D.J. Sokol Arena single-season record with 36 service aces.
• Served first career ace late in fourth set against San Diego (Sept. 5).
• Served two aces during a 6-0 serving run vs. UC Santa Barbara (Sept. 6), adding a dig.
• Made first start of 2025 vs. No. 22 USC and finished with four blocks, two kills, two digs and an ace (Sept. 7) while playing the front row for a sick Eloise Brandewie.
• Entered Northern Iowa match on Sept. 14 with six aces and six digs, then had five of each in 3-0 win against the Panthers.
• Had an ace in 11 straight matches from Sept. 5-27, tied for the fifth-longest streak in program history, and tying the CU freshman record.
• Served four aces in the second set of win at Georgetown (Oct. 10), then served up three more the next day at Villanova.
• Had three kills and added two aces and two digs in win vs. St. John’s (Oct. 17).
• Had six kills in six swings and added four aces and three blocks in 3-0 win vs. Seton Hall (Oct. 11).
• Had three aces in start at Providence (Oct. 24).
• Served a 6-0 run that included five aces late in first set win against Villanova (Nov. 7).
• Set a school-record with nine aces vs. Georgetown, including seven in the first 35 points of the match.
• In that match against the Hoyas, Creighton won the point on 27 of her 31 serves, while Georgetown served 34 times the entire match as a team.
• Had six kills and five blocks in 3-0 win at St. John’s (Nov. 14), adding three aces.
• Owned season-high seven kills on .778 hitting and matched her career-high with five blocks at Seton Hall (Nov. 15).
• Had three aces in first set at No. 2 Kentucky in Regional Final, becoming the first Bluejay with three aces in the same set in an NCAA Tournament match.
• Redshirt freshman who did not appear in any points last season.
• Grew up on a farm.
• Moved from Texas to Nebraska in 2013.
2024: Redshirted at Creighton
• Redshirted during her first full season as a Bluejay.
• Lone “appearance” came vs. Missouri, when she was listed as a starter on the line-up sheet for each set but subbed out before any points were played (Aug. 31) to help CU get the match-ups its sought.
Douglas County West High School
• Graduated from high school early so she could enroll at Creighton in January of 2024.
• Is the first Division I volleyball recruit in Douglas County West High School history.
• Was named to Omaha World-Herald’s 2023 Preseason Super Six, but missed her senior season due to injury.
• Tabbed First Team All-Class C1 and Third Team All-Super State by the Lincoln Journal Star in 2022.
• Named Honorary Co-Captain and First Team All-Nebraska Capitol Conference as a junior after hitting .524 and finishing with 439 kills, 84 blocks, 84 digs and 49 aces.
• Helped the Falcons to their first state tournament appearance in 2022 with 22 kills and three aces in match that clinched the bid.
• Owned 371 kills and 97 blocks in her sophomore season, as team went 21-9.
• Named First Team All-NCC and All-State Honorable Mention as a freshman when she had 265 kills.
• Finished prep career with 1,075 kills, 268 blocks and 128 aces while hitting .434.
• Coached by Bob Wald.
• Also played basketball in high school.
• Nora became the first member of Creighton’s 2024 recruiting class to commit when she verballed in July of 2022.
Personal
• Daughter of James and Jessica Wurtz.
• Mom played volleyball at College of Saint Mary.
• Has siblings Cameron and Leah.
• Marketing major.
• Lives on a farm.
• Person she would love to meet is Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
• Chose Creighton because of the culture and people here are everything she wanted.
• Favorite actor is Adam Sandler.
• Movie she’s watched the most is Remember The Titans.
• Favorite show to watch is Outer Banks.
• Three dream dinner guests would be The Rock, Adam Sandler and Kevin Hart.
• Listens to calming music before a match.
• Favorite BIG EAST city besides Omaha is New York City.
• Best friend on another college volleyball team is Carly Ries at South Dakota.
• Favorite ice cream flavor is mint chocolate chip.
• Chose her uniform number because her birthday is on the 19th.
• Best sports memory is advancing to the Elite Eight at Penn State last year.
• Match she’s most excited for is Penn State.
• Did you know...moved from Texas to Nebraska when she was in second grade in 2013.
• Favorite holiday is the 4th of July.
