Tennis Teams Finish Weekend 1-2

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- The Creighton men's tennis team defeated Coe College, 5-2, on Saturday, while both the men and women's squads dropped 5-2 decisions to Western Illinois over the weekend on the Coe College campus.
In action on Saturday, the Bluejays picked up five of six singles matches to defeat Coe College, 5-2, after dropping the doubles point to the Kohawks. Juniors Nikita Dudar and Jose Guerra, senior Joe Eckert, sophomore James McAvoy and freshman Bryan Lube all picked up singles victories for the Bluejays.
Also on Saturday in Cedar Rapids, the Western Illinois women's team defeated Creighton, 5-2. The Westerwinds took the doubles point and captured four of six singles matches to come away with the win. Sisters Sarah and Leesa Cadwallader won their No. 2 doubles match, while freshman Lauren Mastro and sophomore Cassie Yoneshige came away with singles victories for the Bluejays.
On Sunday morning, the Western Illinois men's team defeated the Bluejay men by the same 5-2 tally. Creighton's Guerra and Brian Ward were victorious at No. 2 doubles, while Eckert and Lube each picked up their second singles wins of the weekend to highlight the Bluejays' day.
