
Tennis Teams Conclude Spring Break Trip With Wins Over Sacred Heart

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Creighton men's and women's tennis teams wrapped up their spring break trip to Florida with victories over Sacred Heart on Thursday. The men defeated the Pioneers, 7-0, to move over the .500 mark at 5-4. The Bluejay women defeated Sacred Heart, 5-2, to up their record to 4-4.
The CU men won each of the six singles and three doubles matches in securing the 7-0 victory. Senior Joe Eckert picked up his eighth straight singles win, defeating Jinal Shah in straight sets. Jose Guerra (No. 1), Nikita Dudar (No. 2), Brian Ward (No. 4), James McAvoy (No. 5) and Bryan Lube (No. 6) also won straight-set decisions. Eckert and Dudar dominated with an 8-0 win in No. 1 doubles, while Guerra and Ward (No. 2) and Lube and Ross Allen (No. 3) also were victorious.
The CU women won two of three doubles matches and four of the six singles matches to come away with the 5-2 decision. Lauren Mastro remained undefeated at No. 1 singles, winning a tight match with Darcy Demers (7-5, 7-5). Lindsey Erickson (No. 2), Leesa Cadwallader (No. 4) and Cassie Yoneshige (No. 5) also took home singles victories. Leesa and Sarah Cadwallader stayed perfect at No. 1 doubles with an 8-3 win. Erickson and Mastro won at No. 2 doubles, 8-5, to give the Bluejays the doubles point.
