
Shockers Sweep Bluejays In MVC Tennis Action

The Creighton men fell to 8-9 overall and 1-5 in the Missouri Valley
Conference, while the Shockers improved to 17-3 and 5-0.
The Bluejay women dropped to 6-11 overall and 0-6 in the MVC, while WSU
moves to 12-7 and 4-1.
Creighton junior Nikita Dudar was the only player to force a third set
against the Shockers, but fell 10-0 in the tiebreaker at men's No. 2 singles.
Jose Guerra (No. 1), Joe Eckert (No. 3), James McAvoy (No. 4), Bryan Lube (No.
5) and Michael Elson (No. 6) were all downed in straight sets.
All three men's doubles matches were tight, but the Shockers prevailed in
each flight. Eckert and Dudar were edged by three points at No. 1, Ward and
Guerra fell by two points at No. 2 and Lube and McAvoy lost by two at No. 3.
The Bluejay women again played with only five players, forfeiting matches
at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles. The Shockers swept all five singles matches
that were played, as Lindsey Erickson (No. 1), Lauren Mastro (No. 2), Sarah
Cadwallader (No. 3), Leesa Cadwallader (No. 4) and Rachelle Shoji (No. 5) each
dropped their matches in straight sets.
The Cadwallader twins suffered a rare loss at No. 1 doubles, while
Erickson and Mastro were defeated at No. 2 doubles.
Both Creighton teams will return to action on Saturday against Nebraska
Wesleyan at 12:30 PM. Weather permitting, the matches will be played outdoors
