
Men's Tennis Tames Bears, 6-1

GREELEY, Colo. - Creighton Tennis simply cannot lose.
The men's tennis team (7-2) won its seventh straight dual on Saturday, as they blew by Northern Colorado (1-11), 6-1 at the Work-Out West complex in Greeley.
Combined with the women, the Creighton tennis program can now boast a total of 15
straight dual victories. The last loss by either one of the teams was Feb. 12
when the men fell to UMKC, 5-2
Doubles resulted in three Creighton victories to put the Jays (7-2) up 1-0. J.T. Christian and Billy Paluch topped Calix Van Lier and Robbie Edwards, 8-4 at No. 1 to start the match. No. 2 doubles had James McAvoy and Ryan Norman taking a tight, 8-7 match over Connor Buchanon and Travis Day, and that was followed by a Kyle Obermeier/Connor Macey 8-1 win over Ryan Lane and Andre Lepine at No. 3.
UNC snuck a point away from CU as Van Lier earned a win at No. 1 over Paluch, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4. The Jays came back strong with two shutout wins as Christian blanked Edwards, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2, and Gabe Nagy matched that result against Lane at No. 3.
Obemeier clinched the Jay win with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No 4 over Buchanon, 6-3, 6-2. McAvoy outlasted Day at No. 5, 6-1, 4-6, 14-12, and Bryan Lube recorded a win at No. 6 with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Lepine.
The Jays will make a pit stop in Kearney, Neb. tomorrow to face Nebraska-Kearney for a Sunday morning dual. Doubles action will kick-off the dual at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday.
