Creighton Men's Tennis Blasts Hastings

OMAHA, Neb. - The Creighton men's tennis team took care of the Hastings Broncos Tuesday, defeating them 7-0 in Omaha. Creighton (3-2, 0-1) only dropped seven games in singles play on the day and won all three doubles matches.
Gabe Nagy and Ryan Norman finished their No. 3 doubles match first, shutting out the Hastings tandem of Brian Freeman and Andrew Huber 8-0. Creighton picked up the doubles point when Billy Paluch and J.T. Christian won the No. 1 doubles 8-1 over Tyler Benson and Seton Bachle.
In the No. 2 doubles, Kyle Obermeier and Sean Mathison had Brian Freeman and Andrew Huber down 5 games to none, but the Hastings duo battled back, bringing the set to 6-4. Obermeier and Mathison then won the last two games and closed out the set, giving Creighton all three doubles victories.
The singles competition was dominated by the Jays, with two players shutting out their opponent and three other Jays allowing just one set loss. Paluch defeated Benson 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 1 singles and J.T. Christian shutout Banda 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 2 spot. Obermeier just dropped one set in his No. 3 singles spot, winning in straight sets 6-0, 6-1 over Bachle.
The No. 4, 5 and 6 singles went the same way, as Bryan Lube defeated Freeman 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4, Nagy shut out Huber 6-0, 6-0, and Mathison won in straight sets 6-0, 6-1 over Grant Nagaki in No. 6 singles.
The Jays are at home for one more match on Friday, February 18 when they host Northern Colorado. Match time is set for 7:00 p.m. from the Hanscom Indoor Tennis Center.
