Dippel Secures Flight Title At Bluejay Invitational

OMAHA, Neb. -- Senior Quinn Dippel captured the B singles flight title on Sunday as the Creighton men's tennis team wrapped up competition in the Bluejay Invitational.
Dippel, one of six Creighton players to reach the final of his respective singles flight, came from behind to outlast South Dakota State's Henrique Pereira, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1, in a hard-fought, three-set match.
"A come-from-behind win from Quinn [Dippel] was a fantastic moment," Creighton head coach Tom Lilly said. "Many guys reached the finals and that was great to see, but we came away disappointed that we were unable to win a few more flights."
Five Bluejay players finished runners-up in their respective singles flights: Alex Koca, Harrison Lang, Brooks Kendall, Anthony Rauschenbach, and August Nysted.
"I believe most of our guys are leaving this tournament with a bittersweet taste," Lilly said. "Hopefully that will make us stronger.
"Our guys worked very hard in most of the matches and are getting stronger mentally and physically each time out. We will need to keep getting better in many areas in order to reach that next level."
