
Men's Tennis Hosts North Dakota On Friday For Home Opener

OMAHA, Neb. — Following its season-opening road trip to Stillwater, Okla., the Creighton men's tennis team returns home to host North Dakota on Friday, Jan. 22 at 12:30 p.m. Friday's match-up will take place at the Hanscom Tennis Center in Omaha and will serve as the Bluejays' regular-season home opener.
GETTING UP TO SPEED
The Bluejays (0-2) began spring competition at 28th-ranked Oklahoma State last week, falling to the Cowboys (2-0), 7-0.
Junior Aaron Chalstrom was edged in a third-set super tiebreaker in Stillwater, falling to Mateo Ruiz Naranjo, 6-3, 4-6, 10-2.
Creighton capped its road trip with a neutral-site match-up with UNLV, which was also played in Stillwater.
The Bluejays were narrowly bested in doubles play versus the Runnin' Rebels (1-1), as Creighton's duo of Brooks Kendall and Harrison Lang were leading 6-5 at the No. 3 spot when UNLV clinched the doubles point.
Kendall carried his strong play into singles competition, taking the first set at No. 5 Singles, 7-5. However, UNLV's Evaldo Neto rallied to win, 5-7, 6-1, 6-1, clinching the Runnin' Rebels' 7-0 victory.
SCOUTING NORTH DAKOTA
The Fighting Hawks (0-1) suffered a narrow, 4-3 loss to Omaha in Grand Forks, N.D., last week.
North Dakota split the singles spots with Omaha, with the Fighting Hawks earning wins at No. 2, No. 4, and No. 5; however, Omaha took the doubles point, winning at the second and third positions.
