Men's Basketball Comes Up Short In 75-65 Loss to Seton Hall

Sellout crowd of 17,924 on Creighton vs. Cancer night
OMAHA, Neb. -- James Milliken had a season-high 21 points off the bench, but it wasn't enough as Seton Hall handed Creighton a 75-65 loss before 17,924 fans at CenturyLink Center Omaha on Saturday night. The season-high sellout crowd of 17,924 fans was the 18th-largest in program history and came on the program's annual Pink Out as part of Creighton vs. Cancer weekend.
Seton Hall improves to 15-6 on the year, while Creighton dropped to 14-8. Both teams are 5-4 in league play and split the season series.
Isaiah Whitehead led Seton Hall with 22 points and six assists, one of four visitors in double-figures. The Pirates got double-doubles from Desi Rodriguez (14 points, 10 rebounds) and Angel Delgado (13 points, 12 rebounds) as part of an effort that saw Seton Hall control the glass 46-27, including 17-6 on the offensive end.
Milliken had 21 points for CU, while Maurice Watson Jr. added 14 points and six assists. Creighton shot 41.8 percent from the field and were 6-of-23 from three-point range.
Seton Hall used a 17-6 run in the final six minutes of the first half en route to a 40-27 lead at intermission. After the Bluejays scored on its first trip of the half, the Pirates embarked on a 14-3 run during which it made six straight shots to push the lead to 22 (54-32) with 16:50 to play.
Ronnie Harrell Jr. helped spur a comeback that saw Creighton close to within 13 with 9:37 to play, and within 10 with 5:42 to go, but the Jays would not trim their deficit to single-figures after the break.
Creighton faces No. 6 Villanova on Wednesday in a game scheduled to tip at 7:05 p.m. Central and air on CBS Sports Network.
NOTES: Creighton raised $16,527.90 as part of its jersey auction and has raised $126,203.04 in the past five seasons ... Creighton's bench outscored Seton Hall's bench by a 34-9 count, with Milliken's 21 accounting for much of that discrepancy ...
