Men's Golf Finishes Fall Season With Ninth Place Finish

Tucker Knaak leads Creighton by tying for 37th place
ESTERO, Fla. -- Freshman Tucker Knaak led the Creighton men's golf team to a ninth-place finish at the 2018 Homewood/Hilton Garden Airport & FGCU Classic, which wrapped up on Monday.
Knaak led Creighton in scoring for the second time in the last three meets, finishing in a tie for 37th place with rounds of 82, 77 and 79. The second-round 77 on Sunday afternoon was CU's best round of the tournament. The Plainview, Neb., native will finish his first semester on campus leading CU with a 76.23 scoring average this fall.
Sophomore Nate Vontz placed 40th in the meet. He started with an 83 before back-to-back rounds of 79. Teammate Koy Potthoff tied for 41st place with a 244 total after circuits of 83, 80 and 81. He finished one shot better than Brad Keyer, who placed tied for 43rd with rounds of 84, 79 and 82. Rounding out the Bluejay team was Ben Krapfl. The freshman finished 51st after rounds of 86, 81 and 88 for a 255 total.
Joe Torkelson also competed as an individual and placed 50th following loops of 86, 84 and 80 for a 250 aggregate.
Campbell had four men finish in the top nine to win the team title by four shots over UT Arlington with an 882 total. Eastern Kentucky's Erik Lindwall fired rounds of 72, 73 and 70 to finish one-under par (215) and take medalist honors by two shots over Campbell's Pontus Nyholm.
Nine teams and 54 players competed on the par 72 Old Corkscrew Golf Club course that measured 6,697 yards.
Creighton will return to the course in the spring.
