Hickey Leads Women's Golf at GCU Invitational

Bluejays take 20th place in Phoenix meet
FINAL RESULTS
PHOENIX, Ariz. -- Sophomore Margaret Hickey tied for 57th to lead the Creighton women's golf team to a 20th-place finish at the GCU Invitational in Phoenix, Ariz.
Hickey tied her season-low with consecutive 77's to open the tournament before closing with a 78 for a 232 total.
Tying for 85th place with a 239 aggregate were both sophomore Amelia Lee (85-73-81) and freshman Katie Wilson (78-80-81). Lee's second round 73 was her best collegiate score by two shots, while Wilson's season-low 78 in Saturday's first round came near her hometown of Scottsdale, Ariz.
Senior Sydney Gillespie tied for 99th place following loops of 84, 80 and 85, with Rachel Grenko rounding out the Bluejay line-up with scores of 88, 82 and 81 to tie for 101st place in the field.
Toledo won the team championship with an 877 total, six shots better than Lamar and 14 strokes ahead of Southern Utah. Creighton's 955 total came after rounds of 324, 310 and 321.
Medalist honors went to South Dakota State's Teresa Toscano, who finished four-under par and set a tournament record with a three-round total of 212, then won a playoff with Southern Utah's Pluem Youngyuan and Lamar's Elodie Chaplet. The meet featured 20 teams and 107 competitors and was contested at GCU Golf Course, which measured 6,110 yards and was a par 72 circuit.
Creighton returns to the course on March 11-12 at the UTRGV Invitational in McAllen, Texas.
