Freshman earns two-shot victory
OMAHA, Neb. -- Freshman Tucker Knaak fired a 3-under 69 on Sunday and earned a two-shot victory at the UNI Invitational on Sunday. It was Knaak's first win as a collegian, and he's the first Bluejay to win a meet since Kade Brown won the 2016 Jackrabbit Invitational on March 7-8, 2016.
Knaak was tied for third place entering the day after firing a 74 on Saturday, but his 69 on Sunday was the lowest round by any player in the tournament. He earned a two shot win over Southwestern CC's Oliver Pearson.
Nate Vontz tied for 10th place after rounds of 76 and 73, and Koy Potthoff tied for 16th place with circuits of 76 and 75. Also tying for 10th place with loops of 75 and 74 was Andrew McCormick, who competed as an individual.
Joe Torkelson recorded consecutive 79s and tied for 24th place while Brad Keyer completed rounds of 79 and 81 to tie for 27th.
Western Illinois won the meet with a 587 aggregate, four shots better than Northern Iowa and 14 ahead of Creighton.
The meet was held at Pheasant Ridge Golf Course, a 6,872-yard course that was a par 72 layout and featured 33 competitors.
Creighton returns to the course on April 5th when it hosts Drake in a dual meet at Bent Tree Golf Course in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The meet begins at 2 p.m.
