Women's Golf Places Eighth at Kansas City Intercollegiate

Katie Allen ties for 20th place
RAYMORE, Mo. -- The Creighton women's golf team finished in eighth place at the Kansas City Intercollegiate, which wrapped up on Tuesday at Creekmoor Golf Club in Raymore, Mo.
Freshman Katie Allen led Creighton for the meet with a 231 total to tie for 20th place. She had rounds of 76 and 73 before closing with an 82.
Senior Rachel Grenko finished in 26th place. She had rounds of 79 and 75 on Monday before an 81 on Tuesday for a 235 aggregate.
Sophomore Amelia Lee shot an 82 in her first loop before closing with back-to-back 80s. The 80 on Tuesday tied for Creighton's best round of the day.
Tying for 57th place was Margaret Hickey, who completed circuits of 82, 81 and 87. She finished two spots ahead of Sydney Gillespie, who shot 82, 87 and 84 for a 253 total to tie for 59th place.
Competing as an individual in the event was Caroline Lake. The senior from Madison, Wis., had scores of 80, 79 and 80 for her best 54-hole score (239) since October of 2017.
Oral Roberts led from wire-to-wire and won the team title with an 879 total to best Missouri State by 20 strokes. ORU's Beatriz Garcia compiled rounds of 68, 69 and 74 for a 5-under 211, four shots better than teammate Sarah Bell. Garcia's score broke the previous record for the Kansas City Intercollegiate, three shots better than the mark set by North Dakota State phenom Amy Anderson in 2013.
The meet featured 10 teams and 67 competitors and was played on the par 72 course that measured 6,054 yards
Creighton closes the season on April 19-21 at the BIG EAST Championships, which will be contested at Callawassie Country Club in Okatie, S.C.
