Nate Vontz ties for 25th place
HOWIE-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. -- The Creighton men's golf team finished 11th at the Orlando Invitational, which wrapped up on Tuesday at El Campeon-Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howie-In-The-Hills, Fla.
Nate Vontz tied for 25th place to lead the Creighton contingent with rounds of 78, 75 and 81 for a 234 total. That placed him just ahead of Tucker Knaak, who tied for 38th. Knaak started with loops of 81 and 83 on Monday before matching CU's best score of the tourney, a 75, on Tuesday.
Andrew McCormick tied for 45th place with rounds of 79, 82 and 81 for a 242 aggregate.
Rounding out the Bluejay team were Brandt Radloff, who tied for 54th after circuits of 79, 85 and 82, and Jack Olson (82-87-83, 62nd place).
Competing as an individual but not factoring into CU's team score was Cade McCallum. He placed 59th after scores of 84, 79 and 86 for a 249 total.
Wright State won the 11-team competition with a 896 total to beat runner-up Illinois Wesleyan by 13 strokes on the Par 72 course that measured 6,869 yards. Wright State's Tyler Goecke and Youngstown State's Ken Keller shared medalist honors in the 69-player field with a 221 total.
Creighton returns to the course on March 16-17 at the ECU Intercollegiate at Brook Valley in Greenville, N.C.
