Women's Golf Takes Second at Stampede At The Creek

Freshmen Eleanor Hudepohl and Katherine Lemke both finish in top-five
ELKHORN, Neb. -- Top-five finishes by freshmen Eleanor Hudepohl and Katherine Lemke helped the Creighton women's golf team to a runner-up finish at Stampede At The Creek on Tuesday afternoon in Elkhorn.
Hudepohl finished as runner-up after rounds of 71, 74 and 76 for a 221 total. That was four shots behind Nebraska's Michaela Vavrova's 217 total (74-71-72) that won the tournament.
Lemke picked up her second top-10 finish in as many tries to open her Bluejay career, tying for fifth place following loops of 74, 76 and 76.
Katie Allen claimed her third straight top-10 finish dating to last spring as the junior compiled scores of 74, 76 and 77 for a 227 total to tie for eighth place. It's her ninth career top-10 finish.
Gabby Tremblay placed 26th following circuits of 84, 78 and 76 to earn a 26th-place finish. One shot back and in a tie for 27th was Katie Berrian, as the sophomore posted scores of 80, 82 and 77.
Competing as an individual but not counting towards CU's team score was Claire Orcutt (88-82-83=253) and Katie Wilson (79-85-90=254). Orcutt tied for 42nd place while Wilson finished in 44th place. Kristin Goertz shot a 100 in the opening round but withdrew and did not compete on Monday afternoon nor Tuesday morning.
North Dakota State won the tournament by nine shots with an 899 total to narrowly defeat Creighton..
The tournament was hosted at the Club at Indian Creek, which measures 5,988 yards on its par-72 layout. Eight teams and 54 competitors entered the event.
The Bluejays host the Creighton Classic next Monday and Tuesday at Oak Hills Country Club in Omaha.
