At the plate the Bluejays are hitting .283 as a team, led by four regulars over .297. Leading the way for the
regulars are sophomore Andrew Meggs (.422), freshman Alan Roden (.328), sophomore Sterling Hayes (.327) and junior
David Webel (.297).

How San Jose State Replaced Connecticut in Mid April
After sweeping Villanova to open BIG EAST play, the Bluejays were met with the news that Connecticut was unable to compete (April 16-18) due to COVID protocols on Tuesday, April 13.
Head coach Ed Servais and the Bluejay administration began working the phones to find another team in a similar situation.
By Wednesday, April 14 Creighton was able to agree to a three-game set with San Jose State. The Spartans watched consecutive opponents (New Mexico on April 10-11) and UNLV (April 16-17) cancel due to COVID protocols.
Bluejay Freshman Alan Roden Leads NCAA in RBI Production Per Game
Freshman Alan Roden has opened the 2021 season on fire at the plate, delivering 28 RBI in the Bluejays' first 16 games.
The 1.75 RBI per game leads the NCAA. The name just behind Roden also has Creighton ties as former Bluejay Thomas Luevano (now with San Diego) has driven in 41 in 27 games (1.52).
Back-To-Back Jacks Against Villanova Brings Up the Spartans
In Creighton's 10-0 win over Villanova on April 10, freshman Alan Roden and senior Ryan Mantle went back-to-back in the seventh inning.
The last time Creighton posted consecutive home runs came on Feb. 23, 2020 against San Jose State. That game saw Parker Upton and David Vilches connect in the ninth inning.
Another Oddity Associated with San Jose State
Thinking back to the game featuring the Bluejays and the Spartans on Feb. 23, 2020. Just before Creighton went back-to-back in the ninth, head coach Ed Servais was ejected in the bottom of the eighth inning. Prior to that game Servais had not been tossed since 2012 against South Dakota State on April 13.
