Bluejay Women's Hoops Rallies For 67-46 Win at #25 Villanova

Villanova, Pa. -- Trailing 19-9 after one, the 13th-ranked Creighton Women's Basketball team rallied to defeat #25 Villanova 67-46 on Friday, December 2.
The win moved the Bluejays to 7-0 on the season and 2-0 in BIG EAST play, while the Wildcats fell to 6-2 overall and 0-1 in conference action.
Junior Molly Mogensen (Farmington, Minn.) flipped the momentum of the game with back-to-back treys in the second quarter to make it a 19-15 contest. Creighton continued to chip away through the rest of the frame as junior Emma Ronsiek (Sioux Falls, S.D.) delivering nine of her 14 points in the frame. The Bluejays closed within one at 27-26 in the final minute as Villanova maintained the advantage heading to the locker room.
From the opening possession, the third quarter belonged to junior Morgan Maly (Crete, Neb.). Creighton's forward gave Creighton the lead with a three-ball at the top of the key. Maly dropped in nine of her 16 points in the quarter, punctuated by a mid-range jumper in the closing seconds to give the Bluejays a 43-34 edge heading to the fourth.
The final ten minutes saw Creighton push its advantage to as much as 23 at 67-44, shooting 8-of-11 from the field to put the game away.
Mogensen led the Bluejays with a career-high 22 points, while Maly and Ronsiek finished with 16 and 14 points respectively.
Villanova got a game-high 25 points from Maddy Siegrist in the loss.
Creighton returns to the court on Sunday, December 4 as the Bluejays face St. John's at 1:00 p.m. (CT).
