Women's Basketball Wraps Exhibition Season With 64-61 Win Over North Dakota State

Sioux Falls, S.D. -- Creighton Women's Basketball closed out the exhibition season 2-0, posting a 64-61 win over North Dakota State in a neutral site game at the Sanford Pentagon on Sunday, October 26.
Creighton bounced out to a hot start in the opening minutes, claiming a 14-5 advantage (4:21). After seeing North Dakota State trim the edge to 14-10, the Bluejays closed quarter on a 7-2 spurt to hold a 21-12 lead at the end of the opening quarter.
Sophomore Elizabeth Gentry provided strong minutes in the post with five points, one rebound and a steal in three minutes as the Bluejays held off the Bison to take a 35-28 lead into the locker room.
Early in the third the Bluejays pushed their edge out to double figures at 40-30 (8:09) and took a 55-43 edge into the final frame.
A final charge by the Bison allowed North Dakota State to close within a point at 62-61 (1:11), but a bucket from sophomore Allison Heathcock and a lock down final possession gave Creighton the win.
Kennedy Townsend and Gentry finished in double figures with 12 and 11 points respectively.
Creighton opens the regular season on Monday, November 3 at home against South Dakota State at 6:00 pm in D.J. Sokol Arena.
