Men's Track Tunes Up For BIG EAST Championships in Fayetteville; Vermillion

Bluejays will make first appearance at BIG EAST Championships next week
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. and VERMILLION, S.D. -- Select members of the Creighton men's track team got one last competition in before next week's BIG EAST Championships, with seven Bluejays in action on Friday.
Logan Piper had Creighton's best showing at the USD Tune-Up in Vermillion, S.D., taking third in the 400 meter hurdles. The freshman's time of 56.93 was just behind his season-best clocking of 56.84 accomplished three weeks ago in Wichita, Kan.
CU's lone PR of the day came by sophomore Dominic Ricci in the 800. Ricci crossed the finish line 10th of 41 runners with a time of 1:56.65.
The only other Bluejay to finish a race in Vermillion was Jack Sorensen in the 5,000 meters. He placed sixth among 17 competitors in a time of 15:48.45.
Lastly, Jake Ziebarth was Creighton's lone student-athlete to head to the Arkansas Twilight in Fayetteville, Ark, running in the 1,500. The junior finished 28th of 44 against some of the nation's top performers with a time of 3:55.97.
Up next for Creighton will be the first trip to the BIG EAST Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Presented by JEEP. Villanova University will host the action, which runs from May 9-11 in Villanova, Pa. The entirety of the meet will air on the BIG EAST Digital Network on FloSports Presented by Invesco QQQ.
