Volleyball Exhibition Goes The Distance

White side wins in five sets over the Blue squad
OMAHA, Neb. -- Creighton Volleyball's annual Blue/White scrimmage went to the wire and then some as the White squad staved off a match point to win the fifth set 16-14 to earn the 3-2 victory. Scores of the match in favor of the White side were 25-16, 26-24, 21-25, 23-25, 16-14.
The rally came one year after the Blue squad saved five match points in a 20-18 win over White a year ago.
Sixteen different players saw time on both the Blue or the White side at one time or another as the Bluejay staff juggled the line-ups in preparation for the regular-season opener on Aug. 30th vs. NC State. Associate head coach Brian Rosen coached the White team, while Angie Oxley Behrens led the Blue squad.
In the decisive fifth set, the Blue team led 13-10 before White mounted a comeback to knot the score at 13-all. After a kill from the White club gave it a match point opportunity at 14-13, Blue stormed back with three straight points, including a rare back row kill off a dig from its libero on match point.
The Bluejays visit Mountain West Conference favorite Colorado State in an exhibition next Saturday at 12:30 p.m. Central to close out the preseason.
