Creighton Athletics in the BIG EAST Tournament
Creighton owns 13 BIG EAST Tournament titles in 12 years as a league member. Men's Soccer (2022) has won one title and Baseball (2019, 2025) has claimed two championships, while Volleyball (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024) has 10 titles and is Creighton's only women's program to win a BIG EAST Tournament.
The Big Dance
A storied program, Creighton is looking to qualify for its sixth NCAA Tournament in program history, but its first automatic bid into the postseason tournament since 2010.
The Bluejays have appeared in the 2002, 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2010 NCAA Tournament, but are 0-5-0 in their five NCAA postseason matches.
Impact of Overtime
Prior to the 2022 season the NCAA eliminated overtime during the regular season but with postseason play in full swing, overtime is back in play with some additional rules. Teams will play two 10-minute periods with golden goals back in play, before heading to a shootout if the score remains tied after the overtime periods.
Since joining the BIG EAST in 2013, Creighton has played 36 overtime matches with the Bluejays going 8-14-14 in those contests.
In the first four years in the BIG EAST, Creighton went 5-4-4 in matches that went extra time. The five seasons prior to 2022 have not fared quite as well, as the Bluejays have gone 3-10-9 in overtime matches.
Creighton has played 128 overtime matches all-time with the Bluejays holding a 35-42-51 mark in those contests.
Shootout Notes
Postseason play brings on a whole set of new challenges with the implications of overtime and a shootout possible. In the result of a match being tied after 90 minutes of regulation and two 10-minute overtime periods, teams will enter a penalty kick shootout.
Including Creighton's 6-5 shootout win over Butler in the opening round of the 2022 BIG EAST Tournament, the Bluejays own a 3-3 all-time record in conference tournament shootouts, which includes a 3-1 mark away from home.
Graduate Ariana Mondiri has been pure on three of the four PK attempts this season, delivering the game-winner in the Bluejays 2-1 win over Kansas City (Aug. 17) and the equalizing goals in the Jays' 3-2 win over Omaha (Sept. 10) and CU's 1-1 draw against Marquette. Sophomore Jalen Chaney was also perfect on her lone PK attempt, delivering the game-winner in the Bluejays' 2-1 win at DePaul (Oct. 18).
Creighton's four penalty kick goals this season are its most in a single season since going 4-for-4 back in 2021.
Including postseason shootout PK attempt, current members of the Bluejays squad are 8-12 on penalty kick attempts.

CU's five match unbeaten streak is the Bluejays longest unbeaten streak since recording a program record eight straight results to open the 2022 season.
The Jays, however, will have a tough test as Georgetown carries a 10-match unbeaten streak into Thursday night's BIG EAST Semifinal match.
The Hoyas have been dangerous throughout league play, outscoring league opponents 32-2 this season. In fact, Creighton and Seton Hall were the only two teams to score against Georgetown this year.
Chaney & Sides Nab BIG EAST Weekly Honors

Chaney was named Freshman of the Week while Sides brought home Defensive Player of the Week accolades.
This marks the third BIG EAST weekly honor for Chaney as she was also named the BIG EAST Offensive and Freshman Player of the Week on Sept. 8. Sides, meanwhile, is picking up the first BIG EAST honor of her collegiate career.
Chaney played an intriguing role in the Bluejays victory, netting her fourth goal of the season off a centering pass from Kendal Radke to give the Bluejays a 2-0 lead in the 37th minute of the Jays victory over the Red Storm.
Sides on the other hand led the Bluejays backline to its fourth shutout of the season, while assisting on the game-winner with a beautifully-placed corner to sophomore Anna Bragg at the near post. Sides has been impressive throughout her first season as a Bluejay, recording a team-high tying four assists this year.

Head coach Jimmy Walker has certainly enjoyed more than his fair share of success in conference play throughout his career. Wrapping up his 18th season as a head coach, Walker owns a 117-40-17 overall record in conference play, including a 4-3-3 record in the BIG EAST this fall.
Walker's nine wins in BIG EAST play over his first two years with the Bluejays are the most wins in conference play by a head coach at Creighton in program history.
Former Bluejay head coach Ross Paule and Bruce Erickson each recorded six conference wins during their first two years as a head coach at Creighton, while Ira Philson collected five during his first two seasons on the Creighton sideline.

Last season Creighton had tremendous success when scoring the first goal of the match. The Bluejays went 7-2-1 when scoring first, but 1-5-0 when the opponent found the back of the net first. The Bluejays were also 0-0-1 in scoreless draws.

Since the program began in 1989, Creighton owns a 283-23-15 all-time record when scoring two or more goals in a match, including a 6-0-2 record this season. On the flip side, the Bluejays are 47-260-53 when being held to fewer than two goals.

In addition to the Jays 3-0 win over St. John's, CU also earned 3-3 draw at Providence on Oct. 11, marking the first time Creighton has netted three goals in a match on the road in conference play since defeating Seton Hall, 3-2, in overtime back on Oct. 8, 2015.
Overall, Creighton is an impressive 167-2-4 all-time when scoring three or more goals, an astonishing .977 winning percentage.

Over the course of the last few years there is one portion of the game that Creighton is not shy to bring, and that is the physicality.
